Special Events in the Library
The Haunted House in the library is one of the main attractions for Halloween. During the Sant Jordi Festival the library hosts a whole school book fair. These and other events make the library a fun place to be.
Happy Halloween in the libraryWith lots of help from our parent volunteers, the library was transformed into a Haunted House for one day of the year as the Elementary students take turns being spooked with Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Not so for our younger students who got to use finger lights to help them navigate the terrible tunnels and then disco-danced to the theme of Ghost Busters in their spooky costumes.

The Sant Jordi Book FairHow do you get the right fit when choosing books to sell to middle and high schoolers?
The answer: Host a Virtual Book Fair Cafe. 1) Set up tables with Hot Chocolate and cookies to create a 'cafe' atmosphere. 2) Using the Barnes and Noble Studio website, choose some video book trailers for young adult books, e.g. the latest Artemis Fowl book. With the help of the tech department, loop half a dozen of these and create a running movie that students can watch at their leisure. 3) Give the students a form and then Invite them to pick their own books online from amazon. The library will take care of the ordering once the students bring in their money. 4) The absolute BEST part of this activity is watching the kids talk about books among themselves and with the librarians and teachers. The enthusiasm is contagious.. Sant Jordi Book MarksWorking together with the technology teacher, the Elementary students used their computer art skills to design Book Marks for Sant Jordi.
